The next season of "Hats for Healing" is being planned. You can still knit & crochet!!!

 

Many women in Howard County are in need of caps. So why not consider crocheting or knitting some? We know you'll feel great about it.

We've already delivered a huge pile of hats to the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center and to the Central Maryland Oncology Center. Words can't express how much these hats are appreciated.

 The more hats we make the more women we help! Thank you for your support.


 

 

Here are some patterns for chemo caps, but you can use other patterns you know or find! We love that the hats have individual personalities....

Crochet - Fancy Hat
Knit - Fancy Hat
Knit - Chemo Cap
Knit - Rolled 1

Here's my favorite crochet pattern:

Hats for Healing ADULT HAT:

NOTE: Hat is worked holding 2 strand of yarn at the same time throughout.

ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring

Round 1 - ch 3, work 15 dc in the ring join with a sl st to the top of ch 3 (16dc)

Round 2 - ch 3, 2 dc in next st, (dc in next st,  2 dc in next st) repeat around join with a sl st to the top of ch 3 (24 dc)

Round 3 - ch 3, dc in next st, (2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts) repeat around, join with a sl st to the top of ch 3  (32dc)

Round 4- ch 3, dc in next 2 sts, (2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts) repeat around, join with a sl st to the top of ch 3, join with a sl st to the top of ch 3 (40 dc)

Round 5-12 - ch 3, dc in each st around, join with a sl st in the top of beg ch 3

Round 13 - ch 2, hdc in each st around, join with a sl st to the top of beg ch 3

Round 14 - ch 2, hdc in FRONT LOOP ONLY of each st around, join with a sl st around the front post of the beginning ch 2

Round 15 - ch 2, (BPHDC in next st, FPHDC in next st) repeat this around joining with a sl st to the top of beg ch 2.  Fasten off.

Special Stitches and abbreviations:

YO- yarn over                sl st- slip stitch
Ch- chain                       dc- double crochet
Hdc- Half double crochet

BPHDC- YO, insert hook from back to front and to back again around the vertical post (upright part) of  st, YO and draw yarn through, YO and complete h dc 

FPHDC- YO, insert hook from front to back and to front again around the vertical post (upright part) of  st, YO and draw yarn through, YO and complete hdc
